Contact Attic Calculator
An R-value gap that looks off, a climate zone that disagrees with your local code, a bag count that doesn't match what Home Depot's calculator says, a feature you wish existed — this page routes your message to the person who can re-run the check and verify your numbers, not a form that vanishes into a queue.
Most replies within two business days — correction reports that affect calculator output are prioritized.
Answered Already, Most Likely
Most attic insulation questions are covered somewhere on the site. These are the destinations that resolve the majority of emails — worth a look before you write. The fastest path to a fixed R-value check is usually one of these pages.

What to Include for a Fast Reply
- ✓Browser & device (for UI glitches)
- ✓Your DOE climate zone number and local code jurisdiction
- ✓Gross attic area, roof pitch (rise/run), and cutout deductions
- ✓Current insulation depth and material (if topping up)
- ✓Material choice and R-value presets entered, plus fuel price and HVAC spend for Cost & ROI
- ✓The result you expected vs. the result shown
A screenshot of your calculator inputs halves the back-and-forth.

Calculation & Results Help
An R-value gap or bag count not matching what you expected? Send the inputs you entered — climate zone, gross attic area and roof pitch, cutouts for chimneys and skylights, current insulation depth and material, and target R-value — along with the result you expected versus the one shown.
Corrections
Report a Material or Formula Error
The engine computes R-values per inch, slope factors, coverage per bag at target depth, dynamic labor costs by area, and ENERGY STAR savings percentages. If any output, material R-value, or zone target disagrees with a manufacturer spec sheet or the current DOE recommendations, send the page URL and exact numbers.

Feature Requests & Ideas
Want more insulation material presets, zip-code-to-zone lookup, saved projects, a printable quote sheet, or U.S. vs. metric toggle deeper than R-value? We build from what homeowners, contractors, and energy auditors actually need at the workbench — including real stories from the jobsite.

Partnerships & Trade Education
Insulation material manufacturers, energy-efficiency organizations, contractor associations, trade schools, and home builder groups — we are open to classroom integrations, co-developed calculators, printed sizing companions, and energy-program materials.
What Happens After You Hit Send
No ticket numbers, no canned macros. Here is the actual path a message takes from your outbox to a verified answer — the same path whether you found a half-percent R-value discrepancy or want a new insulation material preset.
| Step | What Happens | What It Means for You |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A Person Reads It | No ticket bot, no autoresponder loop. Messages with exact inputs — zone, area, pitch, material, fuel cost — are reproducible, and reproducible messages get answered first. |
| 2 | We Re-Run the R-Value Check | For anything numeric, we rebuild your attic calculation by hand — geometry, slope factor, net area, existing R-value gap, material coverage, and labor cost — and compare against the DOE climate tables and manufacturer material data before replying. |
| 3 | You Get the Math Attached | The reply shows the slope formula and the inputs that moved the number. If we were wrong, the reply says so plainly and the fix is dated on the page it affects. |
| 4 | The Receipt Is Kept — Ours, Not Yours | Verified corrections and strong feature requests feed the roadmap. Your email stays with your thread, is never added to a list, and there are no lists to add it to. |
Quick Answers
The five questions we hear most from homeowners, DIYers, and tradespeople.
How do I get a faster reply?▼
Include the exact inputs: your DOE climate zone number, gross attic square feet, roof pitch (rise/run), cutout area for chimneys and skylights, current insulation depth and material if any, and your target zone R-value. Add the bag count or cost you expected versus the one shown. That one message usually lets us reproduce and explain the difference in a single reply.
Do you offer live chat or phone support?▼
Not yet. Email lets us re-run the full attic calculation and verify every answer against the actual R-value math and the current DOE zone targets before responding — which matters when the topic is a $5,000 material order or a contractor quote. We read every message and answer most within two business days.
Can you tell me exactly what R-value I need?▼
We can tell you what the calculator's method says for the climate zone you enter — and show every formula behind it. But the zone targets are minimums; some homeowners go higher for exceptional comfort, and local energy codes may have different adopted R-values than the DOE recommends. Your local code official or a certified home energy rater makes the final call.
Do you sell insulation, blowers, or tools?▼
No. The site sells nothing, carries no affiliate links to Home Depot or Lowe's, and is not affiliated with any material manufacturer. Advertising is clearly labeled and separately handled — see the advertising section of the Privacy Policy for how that works.
Can I suggest a topic for the guide library?▼
Please do — that is how the library grows. Send the question you were trying to answer, the attic you were working on, and what you wished had been written down. Requests that describe a real job-site or workbench problem (e.g., 'how do I calculate R-value in a vented vs. unvented attic?') go to the top of the content queue.

Everything Links Back to the Tool
Every answer we send names the exact calculator input that changes — zone, area, pitch, material, fuel cost — so the fix is something you can apply yourself in seconds.
